Honors Leader Program

The Honors Leader Program was introduced in Fall 2022 to help students develop the skills they need to address social problems and community issues. The program is a series of five one-credit courses focusing on the four Honors pillars.

  • Leadership and ethics
  • Kansas City history and urban engagement
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Social justice and cultural awareness

Honors faculty and staff teach the Honors Leader courses, which include discussion groups, guest speakers, and community service. One 360-level course is offered each semester over a two-year period and Honors 490 is offered every fall.

  • Honors 360A: Social Justice and Cultural Awareness (FS25)
  • Honors 360B: Environmental Sustainability (SP26)
  • Honors 360C: Leadership and Ethics (FS26)
  • Honors 360D: Kansas City History and Urban Engagement (SP27)
  • Honors 490: Professionalizing Research (FS25, FS26)

Upon graduation, students who complete their choice of four out of five classes in addition to the University Honors requirements are designated as Honors Leaders.
