How to Give
There are several opportunities for giving to the Honors Program that can help our students reach their goals without the worries of financing an education.
The Honors Program continues to grow each year. While scholarships help UMKC recruit the best and brightest students locally and beyond, any size gift makes a difference. How?
- $100 — Helps students travel to and participate in research and professional development conference
- $200 — Makes study abroad opportunities more accessible
- $500 — Funds one Honors Program Scholarship
- $1000 — Brings together a diverse student population in the Honors Program
When making a gift, please be sure to designate your gift specifically to the Honors Program.
Setting Up a Scholarship
If you’d like to contribute to scholarships for Honors Program students, please consider these opportunities to give.
Annual gifts
You may choose to give to Honors Program Scholarships or the Honors Program Opportunity Fund. Give $1,000 or more each year for inclusion in the Dean’s Leadership Circle. Pledge $10,000 a year to fund a Trustees’ Scholarship.
Endowed gifts
A gift of $200,000 endows a Trustees’ Scholarship, ensuring UMKC has the resources to attract the very best college-bound students with full-ride scholarships. You may honor a loved one or leave a legacy through a named endowment for a scholarship.
Planned gifts
Include the Honors Program in your estate plans or use a planned giving vehicle to contribute while reducing your tax burden.

I was a scholarship student with a triple major when I was in the Honors Program at UMKC and the first donor to create a scholarship for the Honors Program. It’s critical to give these students support in reaching their goals. The Honors Program recognizes outstanding students with great promise in all fields, providing remarkable experiences that encourages them to interact with students from other disciplines, have the opportunity to do undergraduate research, receive faculty mentorship and have the opportunity to study abroad. This enables students to develop the ability to think and write persuasively to audiences of diverse cultures.
