How to Apply

Required Essay 

All applicants must submit an essay as part of the application for admission to the Honors Program. Please write a thoughtful, coherent essay of no more than 500 words for the following prompt:

Reflect on what responsibilities individuals have towards others. How have your personal experiences, cultural perspectives, and/or ethical beliefs shaped your perspective on this question?

Letters of Recommendation 

If you meet the Honors Program admission requirements, then no letters of recommendation are necessary.  

Otherwise, your Honors Program application can still be considered, but you will need to submit a letter of recommendation from someone who knows you well (ex: teacher, professor, coach, supervisor, school counselor, etc). Applications from family members will not be accepted. The recommendation form can be submitted through the Application Status page. Completed applications (including the recommendation) must be received by the application deadline to be considered for the upcoming semester. 

Application Deadlines

Applications for admission to the Honors Program are considered on a rolling basis, and students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Accepted students must also confirm their admission to officially join Honors. New Honors students must also attend our required Honors Orientation. This is usually the Saturday before classes start in the fall, or the Thursday before classes start in the spring. More details will be sent to confirmed students. 

Fall Semester: 

• Priority Deadline - March 15
• Final Deadline - August 1
• Confirmations Due August 7

Spring Semester: 

• Priority Deadline - December 1
• Final Deadline - January 7
• Confirmations Due - January 13
