Graduate Courses

Honors Program students may count up to six credits of graduate-level coursework in fulfillment of their University Honors requirements. Some students in combined undergraduate-graduate degree programs, such as the Pharm.D. or BSN/MSN program, will enroll in graduate courses as a required part of their academic program. Other undergraduate students may request permission to enroll in a graduate-level course by sending a completed request form (PDF) to the School of Graduate Studies.

Students must earn a B or better in a graduate course to receive honors credit. Undergraduate students pay standard undergraduate tuition for graduate courses.

Eligibility Requirements

For an undergraduate student to enroll in a graduate-level course, you must be a degree-seeking senior who meets one of the following conditions.

  • Be within 12 hours of graduation and have at least a 3.0 grade point average in your undergraduate work
  • Be within 30 hours of graduation and have at least a 3.5 grade point average in your undergraduate work
  • You must be enrolled in the Pharm.D. program or the BSN/MSN program and have permission from your program coordinator to take the specified 5000-level courses as a required part of your degree program

In some cases, undergraduate students who do not meet one of the above conditions may petition the School of Graduate Studies for an exception. The petition must include written justification from the academic advisor in the student’s degree program for waiving the above requirements and must be attached to the request form. Petitions for exceptions will only be considered if presented at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the term in which enrollment is requested.

Approval Process

To request permission to enroll in a graduate-level course, you should send a completed request form to the School of Graduate Studies. Before sending the form, please consult with the academic advisor in your major degree program for advice and approval to enroll in graduate courses.
