Scholarships
UMKC offers generous scholarship opportunities for incoming freshmen, transfer, and currently enrolled students. For all scholarships available to UMKC students, visit the UMKC Financial Aid and Scholarships web page.
Freshman
- Trustees’ Scholarships provide up to $60,000 over four years.
- Automatic Scholarships are awarded to students based on information provided on the UMKC Admissions application and do not require an additional application. Freshmen who apply to UMKC by January 15 will be considered for these awards.
- There are also many competitive scholarships awarded to incoming freshman students. Visit the UMKC Financial Aid and Scholarships web page for additional information.
Transfer
- Automatic Scholarships are awarded to transfer students based on information provided on the UMKC Admissions application and do not require an additional application. Transfer students who apply to UMKC by February 15 will be considered for these awards. Students who transfer in the spring semester should apply before November 15.

Currently Enrolled Students
- Some scholarships require completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by March 1.
- The Talbott Honors Program Scholarship is available to outstanding honors students of all majors. Each scholarship award will be at least $1,000. Submit your Talbott Scholarship application form by March 8.
- Academic Unit Scholarships: Visit your major department’s web page and talk to your departmental advisor to find out about available scholarships.
- Individual advising is available for national scholarships (including the Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater and Udall Scholarships). Contact Honors Program Student Services Director Margo Gamache for further information.
