AFIA – Academy for Integrated Arts – Work Study Position
The Honors College is hiring one work-study position for fall semester 2016.
Job Description
The responsibilities of an Honors College-AFIA Work Study include, but are not limited to:
- Working with small groups of students who need extra academic support under the guidance of a classroom teacher
- Helping students as they complete project work, serving as a mentor, facilitating students in using technology for production, connecting with external resources, including field experts helping students create utilizing technology
- Working with the art and music teachers in supporting the integration of arts across the curriculum
- Participating in family and community events that contribute to the students’ growth at AFIA Collaborating with teachers in researching field trip ideas, expert visitor and other outreach efforts related to students’ project work
Required Qualifications:
- Appreciate strong urban serving mission
- Value the power of school in changing and improving children’s lives
- Able to work with children in small groups under the supervision of certified teachers
- Value the presence and the voice of students’ families as partners in the school
- Have excellent communication skills Be able to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
- Demonstrate flexibility and a professional attitude
- Able to work in high-paced environment
This position will require 15-28 hours a week at 7910 Troost Avenue. Students will need to provide their own transportation to this location. Kauffman School Work-Study Position
Job Description
The responsibilities of an Honors College-Kauffman School Work Study include, but are not limited to:
- Working with operations team on supply inventory, organization of school property, and asset tracking activities
- Assisting with planning and implementation of special events
- Assisting with mailings
- Preparing materials for teachers
- Assisting with record keeping
- General administrative tasks (i.e. photocopying, filing, shipping)
- Designing informational displays for bulletin boards
- Event planning and orchestration
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned
