UMKC Students Receive Inaugural Honors College Talbott Scholarships

December 21, 2015

The University of Missouri-Kansas City Honors College is pleased to present the inaugural Linda H. and Thomas H. Talbott Scholarship to honors students LeAnna Cates and Drew Cox. A distinguished alumna and civic leader, Linda H. Talbott established this award through an endowment created in 2013. She subsequently bequeathed a $1 million gift to the Honors College in April 2015, which provided the endowment and naming of the College’s first Dean.

Cates and Cox each received a renewable $1,000 award for their exemplary scholarship and community engagement. The two personally accepted these awards at a lunch with Talbott and Dean James McKusick in November 2015.

The Linda H. and Thomas H. Talbott Scholarship aims to support Missouri residents who are full-time members of the Honors College in good standing and have achieved academic excellence. The scholarship will be awarded annually.
