On Thursday, November 12, 2015, seven honors students represented the Honors College at the inaugural Writers for Readers, an event sponsored by Literacy Kansas City, the Kansas City Public Library, and UMKC’s own Master of Fine Arts program in creative and media arts.
The event was a reflection of the collaborative partnership between Literacy Kansas City and UMKC that allows graduate students to teach creative writing to teens and adults enrolled in Literacy Kansas City’s Ticket to Read program.
The evening celebrated the power of expression through creative writing and reading, featuring critically acclaimed guest speakers Michael Carroll and Edmund White.
